I think Hunt is still a good player, but he's not being used correctly by Dutt imo. Last year, he was one of our top players because, as we would say in Italian, he was playing as a "Regista" - a deep lying playmaker. He went in deep in the midfield, distributed the ball nicely (to be fair, he did have De Bruyne, Elia, Junuzovic and Arnautovic to thank, because they were always happy to recieve the ball) and sometimes created chances for himself.
This year, he's being used as a striker/winger, and he's simply not fast or technical enough to be a winger nor lethal enough to be a striker.
Also, is it me or is Dutt's formation simply appaling?
Yeah I totally I agree - Hunt is supposed to be either a winger or false nine now, but it really doesn't work.But I totally agree, he did show his qualities elsewhere and I dont think we can afford a similar player with experience and skills next summer either, so they really should try to keep him. The problem is that when it comes to attacking players we have absolutely no options at the moment, especially when someone gets injured or banned, so Hunt and also Ekici (similar problem, I think he's better further back, too) have to play that position.
