MANCHESTER CITY are ready to placate hothead Robinho by spending £25million on ANOTHER Brazilian trouble-maker!
For Citys new target Diego has his own bad-boy tag after being caught up in a string of unsavoury incidents.
The 23-year-old midfielder defied his German club Werder Bremen by insisting on playing for Brazil at the Beijing Olympics and has been in trouble for turning up late for training.
Diego is currently serving a four-match ban for allegedly attempting to strangle a Karlsruhe opponent.
And last week he had to explain himself to the Bremen board after being stopped by police for an alleged drink-driving offence.
The Brazilian, who is dating German pop singer Sarah Connor, admitted: I had a couple of glasses of wine at dinner and was stopped by the police but I did not lose my licence as some reports claimed.
But City still want to team up Diego with his best pal Robinho in the heart of midfield.
Citys failure to land Kaka was a crushing disappointment to Robinho, who stormed out of the clubs training camp in Tenerife last week and returned to Brazil.
Tantrum
He flew back into Manchester on a private jet yesterday. He will meet City boss Mark Hughes tomorrow morning at the training ground, where he will be fined two weeks wages and warned there can be no repeat of his tantrum.
Hughes, though, still sees him as a major figure at the club and hopes the capture of Diego will keep him happy.
Robinho and Diego came through the ranks together at Brazilian club Santos.
And Robinho has been urging City to make a move for his pal, who has also been linked with Real Madrid, Juventus and Arsenal. City hope their financial might will help them land the midfielder on a £180,000-a-week contract.
