Northern Ireland Under-21 striker Liam Boyce is set to be unveiled as a Werder Bremen player on Wednesday after it was confirmed he has left his former club Cliftonville.

Cliftonville revealed they had accepted an offer from an unnamed club for the the promising 19-year-old, who is due to join Northern Ireland's Under-21s for their upcoming games with San Marino and Germany.

It is understood he will be unveiled by Bremen on Wednesday before joining up with the Under-21 squad.

While Bremen have yet to confirm the deal, Cliftonville has released a statement claiming terms had been agreed.

Jay DeMerit

Der 30-Jährige hatte beim FC Watford keinen neuen Vertrag erhalten und ist nun ohne Verein. Erst in der vergangenen Saison hatte sich DeMerit von einem möglichen Karriereende zurückgekämpft. Jay DeMerit spielte seit 2004 für Watford. Neben dem VfL Wolfsburg haben ihn auch der FC Schalke 04 und Werder Bremen auf der Liste. Zudem gibt es Interessenten aus Spanien und Italien.

Wolfsburgs Coach Steve McClaren wird aber wohl das Rennen machen, das ist aus dem Umfeld des Spielers zu hören. Laut dem Portal talksport.co.uk bietet der VfL-Trainer dem US-Abwehrspieler einen neuen Vertrag an, der die Konkurrenz aussticht.
