think the "hatred" is more bitterness that in recent tournaments the Germans have hurt us so much in penalty shoot outs. I hate playing against them though they are usually great games to watch but it's just too bloody nerve wracking! Germany are looking good so far and I'll make a point of watching their every game.

It's a joke how England have shorter odds to win the world cup than Argentina, Germany, Holland, France and Italy. Those odds wil lengthen as the tournament prgresses and people realise just how bad England are. The Germans played brilliantly and only a team that plays good football should win the World Cup.

All the constant german bashing by the "patriotic" english is pathetic, small minded xenophobia with no regard for hostory. The constant great escape theme at england games is only slightly less annoying than the damn vuvuzelas.

That was by far the best performance of the WC so far. The germans didn't miss Ballack at all and the kid Oezil, he might be playing for one of the top european sides next season. Germany look threatening and england will have to up their game considerably if they get pitted against the germans to have any chance

Bin gespannt wie das weitergeht. Der Sieg (viel mehr die Art und Weise des Sieges) kam meiner Meinung nach zum richtigen Zeitpunkt. Deutschland hat schon bewiesen, dass man mit nur einer guten Leistung weit in einem Turnier kommen kann. Diese Euphoriewelle, wie sie nun aus anderen Ländern an die Mannschaft herangetragen wird, kann uns weit bringen

What a disappointing display of football by the australians. The defense, team line up and attitude prior to the game have all been attributed to this belting. Hopefully this was the kick up the arse they needed to get into gear.

There will be a lot of disappointed Australians out there with sore heads this morning, why Pim didnt play a natural striker from the start of the match is beyond belief, how were we supposed to score goals?

Just as well the Germans had one of their typical slow starts to a tournament.

I see Pim gets $2.5M/year and the new coach is reported to being paid up to $6M/year once appointed (The Advertiser 14/6/2010). I have only seen schoolboy soccer and the occasional game on TV but for $1.5M/year I will give coaching this team a go-can’t see I could do much worse and I will save soccer Australia at least $1M./year and up to $4.5M/year-Good value!!

socceroos,im sorry to say, too old, too slow, and too dirty,they proved that against n.z & usa soccer is a game of skill ,beating your opposing player and scoring more goals than them , bring on the young fit players with the skill,socceroos hang your heads in shame, you let down australia, soccer australia should have been planning for this for the last four years young players

Are you kidding, they werent playing and were using this as a practise match. They would have been tired against the real competition later. Besides its creates better odds when youre betting for them later! ;-)

To The Australian Coach. Please Explain. Germany 4 Australia 0. The Australian team Payed as 3rd grade sparing team for Germany the game was as a training only for Germany! I don't know how our team can get out of this one.

Australians have two big faults. No:1 is that they count there chickens before they are hatched. No:2 is that they believe there own media hype. Did you honestly believe Australia would beat Germany ? not a chance, it was always like putting a race horse up against a cart horse.
